A tad confused with all the paperwork I've read but reading the NPPL info on there website - if I held an unrestricted NPPL(M) fixed wing with 30+ hrs I would only need to pass two extra exams and however many hours the intructor felt I needed to be safe and pass the flight test in the Cessna 172 / Piper for instance in order for the NPPL (A). Is that correct?
My problem at present is I'm itching to get started but I have read various information on NPPL A or JAR PPL and one story suggested it takes almost the same number of hours on average to pass both which means going straight for an NPPL (A) is probably not worth it and might aswell go for the JAR PPL. not sure if that is infact the case.
I would be interested in the average hours for obtaining an unrestricted NPPL (M) Fixed Wing and ballpark cost. I very much doubt I will fly outside the UK but am trying to work out if it makes better sense to move up as and when. i.e start with NPPL(M) then NPPL(A) and maybe JAR PPL if required.
There is also the 600+ pages of the proposed LPL licence which confued me even more!
I guess my ultimate goal would be able to fly a 4 seater perhaps Piper Cherokee and probably only in the UK.
