PPL Medical

Hi.

Sorry if the answer to this question is obvious but I haven't been able to find the answer.

If you're learning in order to get a JAR PPL license then do you have to have the Class 2 Medical before your first lesson or before your first solo? I'd like to have a couple of lessons before I make a firm commitment and so would rather not have to pay for a class 2 medical if it turns out that I don't enjoy it.

Thanks for your help.

Before your first solo.

It can also be argued that the medical should be first, as if you can't pass the medical, the money spent on training is wasted.

... But what a way to blow your cash eh McGoo lol! 8o)

You could be spending it on the horses or on some wacky baccy but to waste it by taking to the skies... money well spent haha.

Very true Chris but I think it would be less devastating to find out you cannot get a medical at the start, rather than getting all fired up and loving flying only to fall when just before your first solo! My comment I guess is more for the people who intend to go right through to professional ratings and the class 1 initial medical is quite stringent.

Hi,

Thanks for that. I've booked my first lesson for Saturday 7th and am really looking forward to it.

I agree it would be devastating to find out after all those lessons that you can't get a medical but my GP says I should be fine getting a class 2 and so I'm not particularly worried.

Cheers for the help.
