Hi does anyone know of a link or have a greater understanding of deviation techniques employed. I have been shown one technique that is not in my Thom books. I have the small rule/compass RNP-2.
I have done my first dev this morning and i dont think i have totally got it...I made all my ETA's thankfully =) the technique he was trying to get my old brain to absorb involves the add/sub of the max drift from my worked out heading information...is there a webpage showing sequentially how this was achieved?
try using a 'cone of uncertainty' method. On your chart when you draw on your track, say 220, draw another line from the departure point heading 215, and another heading 225. This forms a cone shape, and you can now guage how far off track you are.
It also helps to draw on the wind direction and stregnth onto your chart so as to make it easier to work out your drift.
