Re: Sat Nav Apps for Mobiles
Hi Tom,
I use an HTC HD2, no longer available but there are many other phones about with window OS, I use Pocket FMS which runs on the lappy for planning etc and on the HTC for in flight use. Have a look at it here, http://www.pocketfms.com/ you can download a working system free for 30 days to try it out first. There appears to be little availble in the Android market at the moment but but you could always go the iphone route which seems to be the future!
It might be worth noting that if you are using a iPhone/iPad the GPS only works when it is receiving a 3G signal. Therefore many people use a remote GPS linked to the phone via Bluetooth to make sure they have an accurate position in case they fly into an area of poor signal coverage. These GPS can be found at http://www.transair.co.uk/sp+GNS-5870-GPS-Bluetooth-Receiver-for-iPad-iPhone-and-iPod-touch+1774
I do not know if this same issue affects other types of smartphone.
